Contact Lens

Fitting

A comprehensive eye examination consists of several components.  Initially, a complete medical history is taken to address any potential eye diseases or complications related to a systemic condition or medication and to discuss our patient’s individual ocular concerns.  A refraction is done to determine the best possible glasses prescription customized for each patient’s needs.  Visual function is assessed in terms of how the eyes coordinate with each other to enjoy comfortable viewing during strenuous visual tasks like computer work, reading and crafting.  The latest technology is employed in determining the health of the eyes and in the treatment and management of eye diseases.  Professional Eyecare strives to provide our patients with a pleasant and informational experience and the knowledge that their vision and ocular health is our top priority.

Professional Eyecare offers complete contact lens service.  Contact lenses are medical devices that need to be appropriately prescribed and evaluated by an Optometrist often in association with a highly trained technician, who in working together strive to provide the best possible outcome for a successful fit and a long-standing, satisfied patient. All our doctors have extensive experience in fitting all types of contact lenses and wearing modalities including single vision, astigmatic (toric), bifocal and multifocal lenses.

We also specialize in prosthetic, therapeutic, cosmetic and keratoconic contact lenses.  Our team of doctors and technicians work together to provide our patients with contact lens options to best suit their lifestyles and education to achieve long term, comfortable and safe contact lens wear.  Our team is always available for support and to address any contact lens concerns.

LASIK procedure

LASIK/PRK

Co-management

All our doctors have experience in providing pre and post-operative care for patients interested in refractive surgery.  The most common procedures performed are LASIK and PRK and we would be happy to discuss the examination process to determine whether patients are candidates to proceed with surgery.

We work closely with local laser centers and surgeons who provide a high quality experience and who strive for the best possible surgical outcomes.  We like our patients to have a strong understanding of the risks and benefits to allow them to make an informed decision regarding refractive surgery.

low vision services

Low Vision Evaluations

Following advanced vision loss related to various systemic and ocular diseases, visual needs can progress beyond what traditional spectacles correction can offer. Improvements in every day function can result from environmental lighting considerations, assorted hand-held magnifiers, spectacle-mounted telescopes, and computer aids such as text-to-speech and screen enlargements software.

Each patient's individual needs vary depending on the particular disease and on the level of visual degradation. The appropriate low vision aids are determined through a thorough in-office evaluation where different possibilities are demonstrated for the patient.

Ocular Disease Management

From contact-lens related complications to advanced stage diseases such as proliferative diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, or macular degeneration, we are capable and well-equipped to provide the most up-to-date management needed for each particular case. Modern advances in technology such as the optical coherence tomography (OCT) have revolutionized the management of various vision-threatening conditions and allow us to follow changes down to a cellular level.

LAtisse

Latisse is a prescription treatment used for cosmetic purposes to grow and lengthen eyelashes.  It may be beneficial for patients who have experienced eyelash loss following chemotherapy.  Patients will typically notice thicker, longer lashes after 1-2 months of use.  The average increase is 25% or 1.5mm from baseline.  The lashes will return to their typical appearance after about 1 month of stopping Latisse.  Neither the exam nor the drug is covered by insurance.  The fee for the Latisse exam is $70.  The drug price varies by the pharmacy.
